Wine, Work, and the Sun: Blending Sustainability and Business Growth

At Page Springs Cellars in Cornville, winemaker Eric Glomski and his family have built more than a vineyard. They have built a philosophy rooted in care for the land, community, and future generations. For Eric, running a rural business is about more than wine. It is about making choices that leave a positive legacy.

With the support of REAP grants and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), Page Springs Cellars was able to invest in solar energy as part of that vision. These programs helped lower costs and accelerate their sustainability goals, proving how access to resources can transform rural businesses. By integrating clean energy, the winery is protecting the environment and creating a future where sustainability is as much a part of the story as the wine itself.

In Harvesting Sunlight, Eric, his children, the vineyard team, and the surrounding community share how creativity and values can power rural Arizona’s future.

In Prescott, Gary and Jean Kiser have long been guided by faith, service, and care for their community. When Gary learned about solar energy through a local co-op, he saw an opportunity not just for his household, but for the church and neighbors he serves.

With guidance from Solar United Neighbors and access to federal programs, Gary first brought solar to his own home. Seeing the impact, he then helped Emmanuel Lutheran Church go solar as well. The installation was thoughtfully designed to include a cross-shaped space on the roof, symbolizing the connection between faith, stewardship, and sustainability.

In Harvesting Sunlight, Gary and Jean share how clean energy has helped lower costs, support their church’s mission, and inspire others to imagine what is possible when communities come together around shared values.

Along the Verde River in Camp Verde, Taylor is guided by a deep commitment to family, land, and future generations. Living close to the river shaped how Taylor thinks about responsibility, stewardship, and the choices made today.

With support from Solar United Neighbors and access to federal programs, Taylor installed solar at home, lowering utility costs and reducing environmental impact. What began as a practical decision grew into broader conversations about family, legacy, and what it means to plan for the next generation.

In Harvesting Sunlight, Taylor shares how clean energy is about more than savings. It is about caring for children, protecting the land, and building a future rooted in intention for rural families across Arizona.

How neighbor support and clean energy strengthen rural life

Surrounded by the pines of Ponderosa Park near Prescott, Alan lives where independence and community trust are deeply connected. Living fully on grid while immersed in the forest, he values self-reliance alongside strong relationships with neighbors.

When Alan decided to go solar, it was a practical choice rooted in responsibility and long-term thinking. With access to federal programs and trusted guidance, solar helped lower energy costs while aligning with his connection to the land. His decision sparked conversations with neighbors, turning curiosity into shared learning.

Rural Arizona Engagement Launches Harvesting Sunlight, a Short Film Series Highlighting Clean Energy in Rural Communities

ARIZONA – Rural Arizona Engagement (RAZE) is proud to shine a light on the importance of renewable energy programs in rural communities through the upcoming release of Harvesting Sunlight or in Spanish, Cosechando Luz, a new short film series that highlights the power of clean energy across rural Arizona.

We traveled across Northern Arizona to capture the four-part short film series that lifts up the voices of Arizonans who are embracing solar energy, demonstrating how renewable solutions are strengthening families, faith communities, and local economies. With support from programs that have now expired, rural communities were able to lower bills, invest in sustainability, and thrive, proving that when resources reach our towns, the results are transformative.
