The Borderland Reflections Art Show is calling on artists in Cochise County to participate in its upcoming Borderland Reflections: Resistance Through Our Lens art show and competition, scheduled for November 7 in Douglas, AZ. The exhibition will focus on life along the U.S.–Mexico border, highlighting experiences with border life, immigration, and mental health. The Call to Artists will be open from August 15 through October 15, 2025.
WHAT: To help artists learn more about the art show, RAZE’s Cochise County Organizer, Tara Clayton, will host a virtual info session covering the theme, submission process, and event details on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Attendance is optional, but artists are encouraged to join to ensure their work aligns with the theme and to connect with organizers and fellow artists in a welcoming and supportive space. More information is available at raze.org/borderland-artshow.
WHO: Open to artists of all ages with ties to border experiences. Participants must reside in Cochise County or a neighboring Mexican border town.
WHEN: Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. MST | Call to Artists is open from August 15 - October 15.
WHERE: Virtual meeting via Google Meet. Sign up at raze.org/borderland-artshow.
WHY: Living on the border presents unique challenges: having family across the border, crossing daily for work or school, navigating immigration systems, facing cultural discrimination, or feeling cut off from a community you can see but can’t easily reach. These experiences leave lasting marks on mental well-being. Borderland Reflections invites artists to reflect on their struggles, triumphs, and personal journeys through the lens of borderland life.
